Good to know
Frequently asked questions.
Does my pet have to stay all day?
No, your pet does not have to stay all day. If your schedule needs it, we can keep your pet for the day for a small extra fee. We take them for potty breaks and offer water and treats if you like.
Why is my pet kept in a kennel?
Your pet is safest in their own clean, private space. It protects their health and well being, and keeps them away from parasites like fleas and ticks, from other pets, and from any mess. Every kennel is disinfected before your pet goes in.
Do you disinfect the salon?
Yes. We regularly disinfect our tables, tubs, kennels, and equipment. No pet is placed in a space that has not been disinfected first. Our disinfectant is made for pet salons and veterinarians and is very safe. You will find one of the cleanest, most sanitary salons in the area.
Why is my pet tired when they get home?
At the salon your pup spends most of the visit awake, being groomed or watching the room, instead of taking their usual daytime naps. The change in routine and the time on the grooming table can be tiring, especially for older pets. It is completely normal. They will wake up refreshed and ready to play, feeling great with their new style.
Is your shampoo mild? Will it wash off spot on treatments?
We use only high quality shampoo. Our shampoos are detergent free and will not wash off spot on treatments like Advantage or Frontline. We also carry a fully hypo-allergenic, fragrance and dye free shampoo for pets with very sensitive skin.
Can my dog be injured during a groom?
We are working with living, wiggling companions, and while our groomers do everything possible to prevent it, a pet can move suddenly and cause a nick. Every precaution is taken. Our open concept salon keeps every pet in view at all times, with no barriers between your pet and our groomers.
Should I brush my pet at home?
Yes. From the shortest coats to the longest, every dog benefits from regular brushing. It stimulates healthy oils, removes dirt, tangles, and loose undercoat, and it is a lovely way to bond. Ask your groomer which brush and comb suit your pet's coat.
How often can my pet be bathed safely?
As often as needed, as long as a high quality shampoo is used and thoroughly rinsed. Many pets visit us weekly for a bath and brush out to stay looking and feeling their best.
Why is grooming taking longer than expected?
Sometimes the unexpected happens. A coat more tangled than it first looked, a pet who needs a little extra care, or a busy stretch of calls and drop ins. If we promised to call when your pet is ready, we always will. Please be patient with us. We always do our very best for you and your pet.
Can I stay and watch my pet being groomed?
We do not recommend it. Your pet needs to bond with us and feel comfortable in our care. If you are in the room, most dogs want nothing more than to come to you, which makes it harder and less safe to groom them. A little time alone with us helps them settle.
How do you prevent fleas in the salon?
Any pet known to have fleas goes straight to the tub for a flea bath. Our flea shampoo works quickly and naturally. We treat the area with a safe spray, use a fogger each weekend, and have pest control service the salon regularly.
Can I pop in to check on my pet or arrive early for pickup?
Please do not. If your pet sees, hears, or smells you while we are trimming, a sudden turn or wiggle can lead to anything from an uneven cut to an injury. We still have to finish the groom safely. We will call you the moment your pup is ready.
